I just got the Bosch , ITs Da-Bomb!!!!
I think the panasonic is the 18Volt combo is the way to go, I picked up the rigid right angle impact and drill combo, and although its nice, its just not as great as my Makita 12V impact and drill...
The problem with the Makitas though is that the batteries die off pretty quick.
Hoo Boy
i keep hearing that. i would love to get it to the one with the planer BUT heres the deal. My local HD tool sales are hurting and tommorow only they will be having a 25% off of their combo kits. problem is they only have the ryobis(i know), milwaukee(would get if they had the one without that damn hatchet), dewalt 4 and 6 peiece which if you get the 6 peice you can get the 18V jigsaw for free it runs like $200. Or the ridgids. Thats why I want to know which is better now the dewalt or ridged? cause i been hearing alot of bad on dewalt and alot of good on ridgid
Wish I could help,I Don't do Yellow (had a winter coat that was Yellow when I was in the 5th grade) See a lot of the electricans with the Ridgid combo kits. Bet between now & X-mas there is going to be some real Deals out there on tools!
Well, I'm a clutz with tools and I drop mine all the time, and I have the second from the top (no chain saw) 18v kit. LOVE IT! I drop my impact wrench (bought it seperate) a couple of time a week onto concrete... sometimes from a ladder. Not a hitch yet. I've got 4 batteries now, and two chargers so I've always got a pack ready to go.
PLUS
I also just got the Ridgid 12v drill/ angle impact driver for $129 - I also love them too. They are a little more refined than my older Ryobi, plus the drill is lighter for overhead work and the angle impact fits in places my regular impact doesn't.
If you REALLY want to spent some dough, the new Makita Lithium Ions are in, at $629 for the complete set with free hatchet rebate!Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA
Also a CRX fanatic!
Well, do a little searching, cause some home depots still have the Bosch 6 piece combo kit that was reg. $599 - now $399.00 I picked one up on clearance for $299 if you can believe it- figured I'd sell it on Ebay to make a few bucks...For the money - it cannot be beat - Hammer drill, circ saw, recip saw, jigsaw, planer and flashlight and lg bag and two batts for $399. Don't underestimate how much you'd use the cordless planer once you own it.I have all of these tools and they are all outstanding workhorses. In the metro detroit area, they are still available. There may also be a Bosch rebate applicable as well...Between Dewalt or Ridgid - no contest, Dewalt; at least you'll have options and warranty support, seems like Ridgid's been all over the place in service and support.Another option is the Milwaukee 5 pc kit with 3 batts and the radio for $449 - seems like a great deal as well.Good luck,JT
Check the Hitachi 18V cordless set. Price right in line with comparable Bosch and Makita, comes with 3.0 Ah batteries, drill has hammer function, flashlight is a fluoro lantern. Of course if you value looks over function and find the Hitachi colour scheme off putting, well, there's plenty of alternatives.
Actually Walmart is entering the program.
18volt hammer drill plus 2 batteries 99.**every day.
You can trust Walmarts warranty. <G>
If you have to have a combo , Dewalt.
They put three years in their warranty over most others 90 days to 1 year. Now a battery is a warranty of three full years ! Dewalt rocks.

I purchased the Rigid combo set ( circ saw, light, driil (has hammer feature), recp saw, charger ( 30 min) came with 3 batteries, and a 14 v drill driver ( uses same charger) came later in the mail as an extra. All the tools work great and , I think, well made. The charger will recharge the bats in 30 min. Tools are guarenteed for life even the batsDownside: In the summer when a bat goes down, it can't be charged until it cools down so in effect the charge time can go to an hour. Don't know how they will perform in the winter especially sine I store them in my unheated garage (RI). The charger has one side that does not charge. Repair turn around time is unknown at this time.Overall I have been very pleased the the set.
Took my Rigid circular saw.. tied a rope to it. Now i got the perfect boat anchor. All its good for
What didn't you like about the Rigid I've circ saw? Again I claim, I think it is great for what I do. I don't think it is a sub for electric but it sure is convenient!
What didn't you like about the Ridgid circular saw?
I actually kinda like mine.
Edit to add: Sorry to ask the same question that the last poster just did. I posted before getting to the end of the thread.
Still curious though.

well guys i got the dewalt 6 peice combo kit. paid $500 and gonna get the dc330 jigsaw. then i'm gonna sell the impact driver and grinder don't really need them. it was hard between the ridgid and dewalt but i think after i sell the extras plus getting the jigsaw dewalt was the way to go.
Thats pretty much what I did except I musta got somthin else besides the impact wrench.
hahaha you just think you dont want that grinder ! LOL You will love it . It Rocks. You will also love the jig saw . I wouldnt use the impact wrench either I dont think. I thought Id sell the grinder to Spere as he asked but its the #2 tool in the set that I use. Awsome tool!

I have the Rigid 4 piece combo and am very happy with it. It is the only combo that comes with a two slot battery charger, this is a necessary feature with cordless tools.
I also purchased an addtional battery so I have 3 batteries which I find I need more often than not. I purchased and returned the Bosch 4 piece combo, the batteries were weak, and it only had a single battery charger.
i have the ridgid combo kit, and love it too. the impact drill is great, and the circ saw works for me. i consider myself a pro-diyer who loves finish work, so i can't attest to its job site abilities.
most important thing... pick up the tools, and see how they feel in your hands. if the grip doesn't feel right, it doesn't matter who makes it.
