Anybody seen this dude with the interchangable face ( smooth or framing waffle ) ? It is supposed to be the new thing! IT LOOKS APPEALING ( AS DO ALL NEW TOOLS ) But I would really like someone elses opinion if you have bought it. The $200 doesn’t really bother me too much if it lives up to the hype;’ I just don’t need a $200 paperweight if it doesn’t. Let me know if you have experienced or heard anything about it. Thanks!

I bought one about a year and a half ago. Very nice hammer, just didn't do it for me though. Traded it to FramerT six months or so ago. I just can't get past the wood-handled hammers so it's back to my Stiletto titanium with good 'ole hickory. Alot of guys swear by that Ti-Bone though.
What didn't you like about it? The heft? the feel?
Miami
Really the only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that it wasn't wood! That pretty much makes me an idiot cuz there's no mistaking that bad boy for hickory. Figured I'd give it a try though after hearing all the hype. Like I said, I guess I'm just a wood-handled hammer guy.
I know what you mean about a nice piece of hickory, it just fits. I frame with a 32 oz hickory handled beast. I love it. Usually I frame with my Bostich or Passlode; however on the occasions for traditional hammer thumping I really like the feel but not so much the weight after 8 hours of pounding ( especially pounding up).

Diesel, yeah I sent it back to Stilletto cause the head broke off. Since then, no problems with it coming loose etc.I carved the knob off the grip to ease in-out hammer holder. Hate to see DBack go under, it's an excellent bag.I DIDN'T DO IT...THE BUCK DOES NOT STOP HERE.
Framer,
I was checking the website for a new belt (I'm getting too big to wear mine with winter clothes on :-( I need to lose some weight) :-) and the message said that they are taking orders, but can't fill them for a year. :-( I wish they would hire someone to manage the business or buy it, because they are the best bags in my opinion.
No doubt Tim. Can't figure why they don't hire a couple people, maybe financial reasons.
Seems I'm not the only one trying to holster my Ti.I DIDN'T DO IT...THE BUCK DOES NOT STOP HERE.
I saw these hammers about 3 years ago at Lowes. They were on clearance for $39.95. I thought it for a minute. Then realized I would just lose one of the heads.
KIP
Never seen Ti-bones at any Lowes around here, and not at $39.95. Miami,it's hard to say. Yes, I like mine but if it's worth $200,U have to make the call. I can tell U,if U were to buy one, make sure its been retro-fitted with the bigger bolt. Like Diesel P, I've always been a wooden handle guy,but that Ti-bone will really smack a nail!
Diesel Pig, did you ever order matching Diamondback tool bags?I DIDN'T DO IT...THE BUCK DOES NOT STOP HERE.
Nope, never got around to ordering the DB's. Right after I got them from you, their website went down (yet again) cuz the bossman had another back surgery or something. It may be up and running again, just haven't checked. No sweat, I'll get around to it someday. My Occi's are only two years old anyway and just starting to get broken in! Maybe when they near retirement (who knows when that'll be) I'll look at the DB's a little more seriously. Did you upgrade the bolt in that hammer to the 3/8"?
I have a Ti-bone and have used it for the last 2 years or so. After I got mine, my framing partner bought one, then my cousin bought one. I just gave mine to another guy on my crew and bought a new one (why? cuz I could :-)). The other guy on my crew has a Stiletto w/wood handle. I SWEAR by this hammer now. I can drive nails just as well with it as I could with my old 24oz Dalluge axe handle, but I'm not carrying around the weight (seems like a small thing, but it isn't). There is almost no vibration at all, in fact effectively zero. You can smash it agains concrete and not feel anything in your arm.
So far, everyone who has used mine wants one, it's just that they won't spend the money, which is fine. We can get ours through the lumberyard for $165.
I really can't say enough good things about this hammer, and you will never replace a handle.
I have both the Stiletto Ti-bone and the wood handled original. I don't care for the Ti-bone either, I use it for demo work mostly. For work where I'll be cranking on the handle, and could possibly be breaking the wood one. The reason I don't care for it is the rubber handle, it has a bulb on the end that doesn't slide easily into the leather hammer holder on my Oxy bags, the wood on the other hand can find it's home without looking. The Ti-bone has a nice sticky rubber handle that is light years beyond the estwings for comfort and grippiness, but not hammer loop friendly.
A $200 demo hammer...what a goof I must be....er...what a goof I am. Keith
Keith,
I know what you mean, i have one and it sits in the bucket while i swing my axe handle stelleto, it just slides into the loop better.
don't get me wrong about how nice the ti bone is, i like the swing etc, just cant get used to holstering it.... too bad. maybe i should give it another chance.

I like my Douglas framer....love a wooden handle...I love the chisel claw as well....sure comes in handy on numoures occasions. I also like it has the inverted waffle head as well as the magnetic nail holder for me being that I'm a shrimp boat....and only $65
Be hammered : )~
