Does the 2002 NEC require a outdoor recptical near the outside condenser unit of the HVAC system. I can’t find any such requirement in my code check or the 1999 NEC book.
BIL got giged on it on his final inspection for his CO. Wierd thing is the same guy is also the electrical inspector and he passed him on the final a few months ago. He also passed him on a porcelin light fixture in a walk in closet on that same final, but now for the building final, he says that the fixture has to be changed to either a covered globe type or a florescent. Go figure!

Hi Dave,
210.63 for the HVAC outlet rule,410.8 for the clothes closet fixture rules.

You are not going to get by that easy.
What about the AFCI on the wine cooler and the lack of GFCI's for the kitchen circuits.
yes, within a certain distance, I think 25 feet.
AFCI on the wine cooler? This is in the 2002 NEC?
"AFCI on the wine cooler? This is in the 2002 NEC?"
No, but in an earlier thread Dave had said that the electrican had installed one and now they where having problems with false tripping and the "electricans" solution was to cut off the ground pin on the wine cooler.
But no GFCI's on the kitcehn counter tops.
I fixed the AFCI problem. I think the guy that wired the house is an apprentice working for a master. He just plugged wires into breakers and labeled them as best as he could remember. It turns out that his memory wasn't very good. He put one of the bedrooms on a regular breaker and the kithchen appliance circuite on an AFCI. After I rolled the wires and neutrals to the proper breaker, the tripping stop. Had to install a GFCI recptical on the line side of the circuite for the appliance circuite. We trace ticked about a quater of the circuitss in the panel to confirm that the panel legent was correct....not! Have to finish checking the other three quarters this weekend, and make up a new ledgend. Looks like Friday I'll cut out half a brick and install a w/p box and GFCI recpt. next to the HVAC condenser unit.
What frost my nuggets more than anything is that the building inspector gigged him on three items that he passed when he finaled the electrical inspection. At $55.00 per inspection, he has managed to double up on his fees. My brother in law got hosed pretty good on this house anyway, and now he has an inspector getting in his pocket too. Granted, the failed electrical inspections he had on the rough and final had merit. I have got no problem with that, but popping him for items on the final buiding inspection that he passed on the electrical is not right.
I hope the guy doesn't drink and drive or speed in this area. My BIL is a state trooper, and his buddies are watching out for this guy. Knowone has said anything about getting even with him, but were I him, I would be real carefull about how I operated a vehical in this district.
