I have a Bosch, can't remember the model number, It's the top of line from Bosch, about 150 beans If I remember correctly. It works well. One of the magazines recently had a review on planers, might have been FHB?
what are you mainly going to be using it for?
general contractor so we use our tools for a little bit of everything.
I've got the same one as CAG. Nice little planer, good power, with a little sprin-loaded "foot" so you can set the plane down before the blades have stopped.
I bought mine reconditioned. Paid something like $120 for it. Saved around $40 for a tool that's as good as new.
I've got the same Bosch model everyone else is talking about. I think its great. I like the reversable chip ejector.
My Porter-Cable can take some very fine shavings, or buck off big hunks. Chute is not reversible though. Haven't changed blades yet, so can't comment on how easy it is to get both blades square to the plane's sole.
I've used the least expensive Bosch and liked it too.

I have the DW and like it. I lucked out and got it at Sears when they were either phasing the model out or were overstocked. Had it marked for $80 and I offered $40. Gal said "they told me to move them" and took it.
I have the Dewalt, the Bosch, and I have used the Makita. I prefer the Dewalt over all of them. The Dewalt has the highest setting (takes the wood down more) and is powerful. It was pricey, for home depot standards, but well worth the money.
