3/4 wood flooring on celing and walls
I worked on an office project. They were going to put 3/4 solid wood flooring on the celing and the walls. They had 5/8 drywall on the walls. I put another layer of 3/8 plywood on the walls over the drywall. Screwed and glued plywood to the celing. Has any body put 3/4 flooring on celings and walls. I am just curious how you would do something like that. I am sure that it is glued and nailed to the celing and wall. Anybody?

I did it as wainscoting once. Regular #1 common red oak T&G. I ran a 45 degree bevel down each edge, and toenailed it to horizontal furring strips. It's important to leave expansion room. To do this, I extended the door jambs by 3/4 in. so that the casings could sit atop the wainscott, and it could move to its heart's content.

I put 1x4 T&G v-groove hemlock on a bunch of ceilings in one house. We used 1/4" x 1-1/2" staples and blind-fastened it thru the tongues. I've put quite a bit of 1x4 and 1x6 T&G and 5/8x4 beaded wainscot vertically on walls. Piece of cake as long as you've got horizontal blocking.
You could easily use flooring but I wouldn't try to use your cleat nailer upside down.
how 'bout using the 220v. sander upside down?? could anchor it w a skyhook
i've used bostitch stapler upside down on ceiling but i'd put up some sleepers 1x3 or 1x4 the 3/8 ply is a dog
I was gonna say sanding is gonna be a MAJOR sunofabeatch!!!

I did it on some 4 ft high walls in my house. Used 1/2 in. CDX as backer & #1 red oak T&G, toenailed thru the tongue. Even after carefully replanning all of the boards to the same thickness, selecting only the best, and installing as carefully as I could, the surface was not nearly as smooth as I wanted. Ended up sanding it down to level before finishing. Quite a job.
Gluing it to plywood would seem to violate all of the accumulated wisdom on the need to allow for solid wood's expansion/contraction with changes in humidity.
Some glues are tight and hard, others made for flooring have some flex to them still

I've got my doubts about 3/8" ply holding 3/4 flooring nailed to it. How do you plan to install it?
