That title confuse you?
I’m looking for a metal electrical box that will take 4 switches, a mud ring, and is at least 2 inches deep…Anyone know where I can get one?
I’ve got a situation where I have a lot of wires coming into one box–and although I have a standard 1 5/8 in deep box (with a 3/4 inch mud ring), I’d like to get something with more room. Any suggestions?
Why aren’t boxes deeper (when you have 2X4 or 2X6 framing)–wouldn’t it be nicer to have deeper boxes? Just curious.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Uh, I may be missing something here, but how about ganging four deep recepticle boxes? You can set them proud so you don't need a ring.

Mike, thanks for the reply...
Ganging up the boxes doesn't get me the space I need (considering the number of wires coming into this box). I would actually have more space with the the oversized 1 5/8 box with a 3/4 mud ring.
I'm looking for a box with more square inches.
Pnut check this out http://tnbelectricalworld.tnb.com/ps/endeca/index.cgi we use masonry gangable boxes with romex connectors when ever we have a lot of wires, although we do try to layout so that we dont have that many wires in a box
