my head is still kind of spinning over this one…..got a call on Wed the 15th: “my elderly parents live alone, mom fell & broke her hip, she can be released to come home on the 22nd IF we can remodel the bath before then….by the way, we dont have any plans yet and the folks dont have much money…..”
Looked at the job on Thurs. the 16th, Spent Fri the 17th looking for a shower base and wrapping up details on the current job. Started Demo Sat the 18th with no clear plan due to various family members involvment. Worked through the weekend, by Tues the 21st had a functional bath, went back today for some trim details (base etc)
Scope ended up being: -remove cast iron tub, replace with acrylic shower base-remove 4″ cast iron from basement through attic-relocate & replace toilet-relocate sink-new flooring-new wainscotting-change swing of door-tiled shower surround-install shower door-all new supply lines and drains-move electrical-patch drywall.
Small, 64″ x 78″ room, no way for more than 2 people to work in there at one time.
I dont do many baths, 5 days seems pretty quick to me or am I slow?

Seems pretty fast to me. By the time you get inspections and such
There was just an article in the local paper on 3 day kitchens. I don't think I would want a 3 day kitchen. By the end the workers have got to be dead tired.

I hope my wife doesn't see that article
no inspections on this one
Sounds about right; not easy to do it much faster given obligatory waiting time for goo and mud to dry or set....
How's yer mom?

"mom" is home & well, but wasn't my mom. She was the customers mom.

I'd call that Ninja fast. Hard to imagine all that in 5 days even if all the materials were stockpiled on the site before you started the clock.
Thats darn good. We did a lot of bathrooms with the materials you spoke of and I would have figured 8 days for that one. Great job! DanT
I think you did pretty good. We normally start our bathrooms from studs and finish in under two weeks.
Family.....They're always there when they need you.
