This is a duplicate post — I first put it under “Design Talk” but it may be more appropriate under this category. Sorry for the redundancy.
We are building a new home and I really like the look of 5-panel doors for interior entryways. However, we are building the home with wider doorways for accessibility purposes….will the 5-panel style look good in a wider door or will that alter the historic look of the door too much?
If you think the 5-panel would be a poor choice, any other suggestions? Don’t really want the typical 6-panel that seems to be in every spec house built around here.

Draw one on cardboard, along with surrounding trim, and tape or tack it to a wall. See what you think.

Here's a 5-panel 3/0-6/8 door, as a rough idea. I think the panel proportions look fine.
