Does any one know of a shower system, base & walls, that is 54″ long.
Swanstone make a base in their Virateck (sp?) which I think is similar to Sterling. But they don’t make any wall panels for it. Either use it with tile or SS panels.
And I found a reformed tile base in 54″ (IIRC it was Tile Ready), but that is not what I want.
I looked at Sterling, Kohler (looks like all one piece), Lasco, and ASB (American Shower and Bath which all of their stuff is too cheap).
And no 54″ systen that can be used in a remodel.
This is a shower that I mentioned before. Got a 2nd look at it.
Weird design. It uses a 48″ plastic base. The back wall comes up 16″ and then steps back and goes up. Apparently the shower door is custom.
I guess that it would work OK, if it was well built. But it wasn’t.
It is in really bad shape for about 15 yo. Partial because of the lack of the HO maintance, but it shouldn’t have required that much maintance in that period of time.
Anyway the HO wants to avoid tile. And she really like the Sterling 48″ unit, but afraid that her husband might feel cramped in the short lenght.
And it is a couple of inches shy of having space for a 60″.
And I mentioned seeing the Swantstone 54″ base, but over the weekend their website was down and I could not find if they made a system or not.

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.

Swanstone makes a 60" Solid surface shower pan as a retrofit for std. tubs. Beautiful units. About $500+. They also make solid surface wall systems. Expensive also, for me though it's too much solid surface. I do love their pans though. Best on the market IMO. They also have an 800# with good customer service. I prefer that to the internet.
Uses but 60" won't fit into a 58" space.I called Swanstone and they said that they did not have any Veriteck walls for the 54".I checked with a local cultured marble adn SS supplier and they could make a base and walls. And it was not cheap in the culter marble, but still less than SS..

Corian, Wilsonart, Formica come in sheet goods, those might make it possible, but also expensive.
order the swan and cut it.
could have swonr I've installed a 54" swan though ... not sure why that measurement sticks in my mind ... but pretty sure we set some fancy plastic walls around a big shower.
might not have been Swan ... but really think I stuck some big sheets of solid surface to some big walls somewhere.
Might just used Swam and cut it down.
did U check to see if they sell special orders?
place I did lotsa sub work for sold alot of their showers.
they were pretty good for misordering and mixing and matching on purpose too.
have cut /drilled lotsa the stuff to make their ideas work.
instead of messing with the glues and having hollow spots ... a buddy who worked the same place started thinsetting the panels to the wall. Modified white ... worked great.

The local cultured marble place said that there sidewas could go up to 8ft in one place. They also sell SS, but did not ask about those. But none of tht is in the budget. They can aford it, just don't see anything that fancy. So it will be a 48" Sterling.I an going to box out the one side and go just above the height of the shower and leave a small plant ledge..

Don't know if it available any more but I used to install post formed PL as tub and shower surrounds. They would make whatever sizes you wanted.
Might look into that .
They can't get your Goat if you don't tell them where it is hidden.
sounds like you have decided which way to go,but if you look at the culterd deal, let me know i'll give you a review, and it's not a good one. larryif a man speaks in the forest, and there's not a woman to hear him,is he still wrong?
What don't you like about CM. I was kind of thinking about them for a shower in my house..

the shower i had was culterd marble all the way.was a great looking trianglular stall. basically they had a flat pc they laid down for the base with a drain, didn't go up the walls at all, then they stood the 3 walls up on top of it,and siliconed the joint at the base.
this stuff had a tremendous expansion /contraction to it from the hot water of the shower [what 110 degrees]. the first shower i took at that house i'm standing in there and all of a sudden POP!. i looked around and wonderd what had broke it was that loud, when it cooled it wasn't as loud, but next shower same thing. wasn't as bad in summer because you usally take a little cooler shower.
anyway with all this movement about every 2 months you had to go in and clean and scrape the silicone out and replace to keep it from leaking into the basement clg. finally one day i took a sledge hammer into the shower with me!larryif a man speaks in the forest, and there's not a woman to hear him,is he still wrong?
