How can I view the post to which I am replying while typing the reply? I can right click and open a window with the post in it, but as soon as I click the cursor into the reply box, the window disappears into the tool bar –

David, you might have to press Reply rather than opening a new window. When I press Reply, the msg to which I am replying is (inconveniently) placed at the very bottom of the screen.
