I actually went to a Loews on my vacation in Southern California. I was surprised to see that they sell primarlity ABS. From that, I’m assuming that this is the code in Cal.
I thought most states had elminated ABS and PVC was the primary DWV plastic these days.
Not incredibly important but was wondering what’s up.

It may be legal where you live, but you have to check with the local code office. Big box stores will sell anything regardless of its code compliance. ABS is o.k. in most states. FYI do not glue PVC+ABS together, legal or not, voodoo. Luck.

We are a green design/build firm near Traverse City, Michigan and have been successfully using ABS pipe for about 7 years. We use it because of our committment to reduce our consumption of PVC products and the associated burden on our environment. Cost as not been a factor; availability can be an issue if we fail to plan ahead.
We see ABS as a transition product until something better comes along. Cast iron sometimes fits the bill.
I'm lost! I don't see anything that shows an anti-green statement on my post!
