The fan blade on my Central AC unit snapped a blade. It’s rather old and I can’t find the model number on the Carrier website to find a replacement part.
Can I just go to a place like Grainger and buy a fan blade to replace it? It’s 20″ with a 1/2″ bore. Is there anything special about the AC fan blades?

You might experience a slight loss of efficiency, but any reasonably similar fan should work.
take it with you,you should get one the same dia. which is easy. but you should also get as close as possibile to the same pitch. if you come up empty handed you might stop by a hvac dealer and see if he will sell you a old onne off a junk unit.larry
if a man speaks in the forest, and there's not a woman to hear him,is he still wrong?
In your area, Berkheimer is a good source for parts like that.
I picked it up at Grainger this morning. Works fine now - actually better than before. The old blade cracked in several places, which made it very loud. Now, it's nice and quiet.
Great to hear it worked out. Just in time, yesterday was a little rough in the area. Where abouts are you located? I'm about 110 miles west, northwest of Chicago.
I'm in Naperville, about 25 miles west of Chi-town.
It's funny, we're leaving for vacation tomorrow and I was thinking I would just order the fan from Grainger and have it shipped to the house while we were gone. We could handle the heat for a couple of day, no big deal.
Nope, by 9:00 yesterday it was already upper 80's and the humidity was thick. An hour later, I had the fan on the unit and it was up and running.
