Hey gang,
getting ready to acid stain new pour, and thought I read something awhile back regarding radiant heat, and that prior to putting flooring down, you should run the radiant heat, (if it’s never been run) for a couple of hours. Sound familiar at all. Don’t remember, but might have had something to do with moisture….thanks for any help in advance….Beck

I acid stained my slab and did nothing special because of the radiant system. Just follow acid staining and sealing recommendations. Good luck, we love our floor. After staining and one coat of sealer, we covered the floor with paper for protection. We used that red paper from home depot, available by tarps/ dropcloths,( some type of cheap roofing paper) worked good.

I have applied concrete stain previously and done a good deal of decorative work in that regard, but never have applied acid stain. I like the effect, however, and am considering using an acid stain on an old concrete floor (no radiant heat). Problem: There is a 1/4 - 3/8 inch crack across one section of the floor. What is the best way to fill and seal this so that it won't be visible/ stand apart from the rest of the floor once sealed? Also, what acid stain products have you found to be best or best avoided? Do most come with good instructions?
it will look better if you leave the crack alone, seems like the worst looking slabs come out the best.
Okay. thanks. What about products? Application advice?
I used Kemiko stain and a pump up sprayer. Kemiko.com acid-stain.com
I've seen their ads and sent off for information. They have a brochure, but it doesn't provide a lot of information. When you buy the product (or before you buy the product) do they send more detailed info reference application, special effects, do's and don'ts?
Brownbag is right, the crack can add ambiance. Check out http://www.acidstain.com boards for info. on methods/ products Mike
