I’m trying to find out how those acrylic shower surrounds are SUPPOSED to be installed. I’m trying to fix one that leaks at the pan corners [wall ends]. I know why it leaks-when the panels get warm [from hot water], they expand, causing the panel to bulge at the bottom. This lets water behind the panel, where it runs along the rim of the pan and out under the channel that holds the glass sides. This surround is sectional, the plastic being in three sections[two flat, one corner] and the owner has smeared on about a case of silicone over every joint. Are the panel joints supposed to be caulked? How is the unit supposed to accomodate expansion/contraction? Where is caulk supposed to be applied to provide water drainage to the INSIDE where it belongs?
Grateful for any help.
