What's the specific application? What about construction adhesive?
Floor, Wall or perhaps ceiling?
Treated wood or not?
Plate, blocking, furring or bracket?
Rough or finish?A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.

Everyone had questions so they could give a more specific answer...
But I'll just jump in wioth this -
I cut my stair stringers with a notch in the bottom to fit a 2x4. I glue the PT 2x4 to the slab with PL premium, which pretty well welds it togetther after weighting it down overnight. If an inspector wants a mechanical fastner too, I would use a few tapcons, but most of our slabs have PEX heat in them so I avoid penetrations

Well. I read your answer and wondered how the heck you could come up with an answer to the original posted question which made no mention of anything other than adhering wood to concrete.
So, I went back and read post #1 and see that the jedi has edited in some crucial info.
Here I'd thought you were some kind of all knowing dude and a mind reader to boot.
I see now you are still just a normal human being.

at last, the veil is drawn back. I'll have to drop the Oracle nickname. It always embarrassed me.LOL, I didn't notice the edit, and you don't get notification of such...

Hey hey hey... I gave you the nickname Oracle, and only I can remove it. Them's the rules.

Nah... you got a ways to go before the title of BT Oracle is revoked ;)

Now that I re-read it again, I see only three steps. There are half a dozen ways tro make this safe without even adhereing or attaching anything to the concrete slab. Three steps down froma door is on the dangerous side of thinking especially if the door opens out, so a landiong might even be the better choice, with two steps off to the side.

Thanks for your reply. I like the notch idea. Although there is no door just an opening, a landing and steps to the side was the original plan but the boss (wife) didn't like it. Go figure...
I would suggest a 2x4pt rotohammered to the floor with several nail ancors [ or shot with a powder actuated gun usind a washer pin] then the notched stringer attached to it.
the problem there is that a short PT without the PL and with say three fasteners plus all trhe nails from stringers is going to be multiple toothpicks size in a few years.
