Advanced House Model…Add your knowl…

An advanced house would have to include “Seisco” electric or “Aqua-Star” gas tankless waterheaters. They are the most energy efficient water heaters on the market, and take up almost no space. Oh! I forgot, they NEVER run out of hot water. If you need to know more about them, please call me at 1-800 851 9891. Thanks, Brian. I also forgot to mention, you can heat your HOME with them too.

Bring it on Jack, free skiing at the Butte after T-day for 2 weeks. Have friends that p-glide and hang-glide here also.

On the road, luxury camping by the Platte.

*Paneldude,You better have some floor space in the fall as I need to see that part of the country from the ground, the Buttes, and the Big sky.Near the stream, wishing it flowed west,J

*Hi jackHave you read the book The Green Home by Wayne Grady ? It is a fairly good read about the steps and decisions that led to the Advanced Home -- which is reported to exceed the R 2000 and to even exceed the upcomming R 3000 house standards/performance.Actually the house is pretty conventional, expensive on HVAC mechanicals, including ERV's. Its superinsulated and airtight. The performance data is old now but impressive comparatively. Its hard to get current info from the House Building Associations, they tell people to call the designer/consulatnat/engineer builders and these guys are too busy to help. What specific questions do you have and I will look up the answers and post them ... as long as you give me a few at a time.Tedd

*I may not have the building intelligence needed right now to ask a great question or two as I'way past up busy doing my tennis business for the spring....Flyin through the spring months and near the stream just a few hours a night,J

I have to take exception to the recommendation for an on-demand water heater. The models you note may have the lowest operating costs for tankless heaters
but I doubt they are less expensive to operate than a big (120 gal), well insulated DHW tank, particularly if you have multiple purpose applications (RFH and DHW) and use heat exchangers. These on-demand heaters may be great for a single person of couple with low volume demand but for a family with lots of demand they are not competitive.

Tedd...I would think high demand would be OK...Why are they not competitive?

*Very good book, went into not only the energy of the house but the energy of manufacturing the materials too.

Tedd brought up this idea and I would like to know more if any one has anything to ad.

And yes Panelmal likes SIP's.... I hope he is willing to show me his system this fall along with some western skiing and paragliding!!

    Near The stream,

    J
