Ahhh need help!

dieselpig | Posted in Help/Work Wanted on March 9, 2006 05:06am

Howdy gang.  I need a stair carp.

The time is almost here to install the finish on the staircase to our new second floor.  I’m just not up to it myself.  🙁

Base and case is one thing…. no way I’m boogering these puppies together with a coil nailer and a wormdrive.

Ideally I’d like it started in three weeks.  Yeah… I know…. short notice for me too.  Last Friday I thought I was starting a new frame on Monday.  No go.  So we demoed the first floor of my house instead. (Try sneeking that by your wife)  So I guess phase II has started on the addtion.

Soooooooo, the few finish guys that I’m friendly with can’t touch it for about six weeks.  I’d like to get it started sooner than that.  My millwork rep is coming out to measure it up on Friday, the electrician is coming next week, board and plaster the following week.

If you’re a staircarp in Metrowest Boston (near Acton, MA to be more specific) and need a nice filler job, please contact me and we can chat it up.  I’d really like whoever is going to be finishing this thing to come have a look at the framing before it gets closed up in case you’d like any changes made to accomodate your system.

Gracious, mi amigos.

I lucked out.  I've got a friend of a friend with a finish carp biz... 20 something employees.  He's gonna do it himself.  Says he hasn't had a chance to put the belt on himself for a whole job in almost a year and a single stair case is the type of project he could actually find the time to do.  I'm psyched.View Image

I just tried to but the dog kept playing the tongue game. She'll lay there right next to my face and everytime I dose off and open my mouth a little she tries to stick her tongue in my mouth. She's funny. Cause she'll look away like it wasn't her. Then as soon as I drop my guard she flips around and tries it again.

She got me about two this morning I was laying on my side facing out. She walked around the side of the bed and buried it deep. BLECH! I hate that. She just smiles and looks at me like she's saying. "Come on it's one to nothing your turn."

Brian, do you want a premade stair brought in and set in place or built on site fit to your opening.

The rough framing for the stairs is all done.  Need someone to install all the trim, treads/risers, and railings.  Got a good guy.  We don't see many premade stairs here... all but a handful are site built on the sticks we framers leave behind.View Image

I'm in!!  I just got done building the main staircase at my house.  I think they look pretty good, especially since I haven't stained them yet.

As soon as I get some free time, I'll post a step by step manual for Stan and Riverman.
