ok so I’m getting a new old compresser from a friend. I have a few questions since it is my first one.
how to tell if it oil vs. oiless
hasn’t been used for years, do i need to do anything
if it’s oiless dose the gun still need oil (I think it would)
If I get a blower attachment or a bive pump one, do i need oil for those
any other advice is welcome, thanks

Looks like those are oilless. If it has oil, it'll have a dipstick. All I do is drip a few drops of gun oil in my nailguns each time I use them, but I don't use them all day. Recently took my Sencos in for rebuild after 20 years - the tool tech commented on how well taken care of they were.View Image “Good work costs much more than poor imitation or factory product†– Charles GreeneCaliforniaRemodelingContractor.com
if it has a pulley and fanbelt its oiled. it it just a motor no belted pump its oilless
looks like just a motor.
"if it has a pulley and fanbelt its oiled. it it just a motor no belted pump its oilless"That's not always true. A good many beltless/fanless compressors are oiled. Best to say if it has an oil check plug then it is oiled, no plug no oil. As for the pancake PC compressor...oiless.gk
andy, some guns take oil, some don't. Check with the manufacturer b/4 you squirt some in there.
