Been borowing an air compressor to run my finish nailer and am getting tired of bugging my father-in-law all the time. Can anyone recommend a compressor for me. I won’t be using it professionally just for projects around the house, putting up trim, T & G and possibly to run a framming nailer when putting stud walls in the basement.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike:
Use the BT search function. There have been several discussions about compressors.
Otherwise, what ends up happening is the regulars, the ones who know the answers get bored with the SOS and end up going away.
Thanks
*Mike,Buy a Thomas "Ultra". It's a little tiny thing that works great for small projects. It's quiet, it's powerful and it's very lightweight. We own three of them. Love 'em.Ed. Williams
*Mike,Porter-Cable is offering a 6 gallon pancake bundled with a BN100 brad nailer for around $240. I've had mine for about six-weeks and it runs great. It's light weight and not too loud. Some finish carps I know made a plywood box on casters, lined with carpet scraps and one side open. It really dampens the noise, especially if you're working adjacent to the closed side. Two of the wheels have brakes and they made it so the height of the top matches the bed of the miter saw. Works as a portable bench/table to support long stock too.Eric

Mike, I have used an Emglo for several years. It is a very reliable machine but a little pricey at 440.00. I recently bought a Sears 4.5 horsepower because it was on sale for 239.00. It seems to be a great machine also. But I recently saw that Lowe's is carrying the porta cable brand and the price is right and it has a good name.

Used a Gas (honda) powered Emglo...ran great for more than 5 years...recently I do more trim and decks...so am using a smaller unit. Went with the 2 hp Stanley Bostich compressor...with the two tanks...little bigger than a pancake...and reasonably quiet.
*I agree with Eric, the PC pancake combo. Very light, easy to move from room to room, and inexpensive. You can eve run a framing gun off of it in a pinch. The guys i work with always grab my Porter Cable instead of the bigger Emglo or Hitachi. Just my 2 cents!!
