I don't allow wood burning on job sites, regardless of how safe it may seem.
However, when building in the mountains there are times when a great deal of slash has to be dealt with when trees are cleared out for the house or, more commonly, fire breaks. I can't think of a time when the slash isn't simply piled and burned when there's a good blanket of snow on the ground, chipped, or hauled off. Any open flames in the summer is asking for trouble, other than a week of high moisture, which is very unlikely in the rocky mountain west.

Not politically correct in today's world. Too much CO2 being dumped into the atmosphere already and we don't need more.
