Am I the only one? Trouble uploading

Lawrence | Posted in General Discussion on April 27, 2009 06:42am

Photos to the gallery utility for your deck contest from windows vista.

Finally get all the photos into a gallery… hit save… crash, door slammed in my face!!

All the info lost… try again.

Fine… Be that way!

All kidding aside… any hints from the web gurus?

It’s like pulling teeth.

Can I just post a bunch of links and call that an entry?

      Hi Dino...

Thanks for the hint, maybe I'll write to Piffin...

Last time I had the same issue. It took about 3 hours for 2 posts. I would post a photo... save... disconnect, reconnect, login, post another photo... save.

Maybe I'll try from the xp unit.

Try dropping a e-note to JP. He's the main web-weenie and would be the best guy to address an issue like this, I think.

I'm trying again now. I managed to post two projects in three days and had about five rejected attempts.I am on XP projust read a note in original thread that files need to be between 400 and 1200 kbs. I understand upper limit, but lower is ridiculous. That has been a terrible site for me to participate in for various reasons.

seems to be working a bit better when I increase the size of my photos, but I don't think that is all that is wrong. I had to work hard the other day just to get logged in.

People not on slow connections really want larger than 400 kb pics. Smaller ones get the point across but lack detail. And I'm talking 400Kb of content, not a screwed up pic that takes 400Kb to show an image no better than if it was 32Kb. Some pics can be reduced in size greatly and still show no degradation. My connection is 3.0 Mbps, I don't even notice pictures downloading till they are 800Kb then I can sometimes see them filling in.

I can see that point, tho I do believe most of those megapixels get wasted. The last of my projects posted there was some pretty poor photography, coming from back when I had just started digital stuff. I'll have to go shoot that house again someday.

Yes, there's a vanishing point. Many images are just big in memory size, but not quality.

    Hi everybody,
Just wanted to let you know I'm looking into this. Stay tuned, but in the meantime, keep trying.

ThanksFWIW, I have had problems with that gallery section forever since it started. Don't know if is a dial-up thing or not - maybe lots of hidden cookies and ads and such that take too long to upload and locks up things....???? Web designers seem to have forgotten the huge percentage of the web population that is still on dial up and ignore us, or are ignorant of us.
