Howdie,
I have an American Standard kitchen faucet with ceramic disc valves. It is leaking around the stems and the water is running behind the sink and dripping into the cabinet below.
A local hardware store says that new stems are $47 each. Good golly, man!
Does that price sound about right to all you plumber types out there?
Should I just replace the faucet with something that doesn’t have ceramic disc valving?
Thanks a bunch!

I would talk to you local plumbing supply house. Have the model number and explain things and chances are they know what the problem is and have the part. Hardware stores are fine for the general needs but parts for a faucet you should go to the supply house. If the cost is $47 a piece, you would be better off getting a new one. You can get so pretty good Delta's and AS for $90.
