I am new to Breaktime and a do-it-yourselfer (home construction is relatively new to me, I have a mostly woodworking background)
I would like to know what the best type of anchoring system is to attach the ledger of a new sunroom & deck to my concrete block foundation. Based on the step-down design of the deck and the height of the sunroom, I am not able to attach the ledger to the rim joist.
The soil is rocky & tough to dig in so I wanted to avoid a floating design if possible.
Demolition revealed the previous owner attached the existing deck’s ledger with a stud gun.

Your block is it hollow or filled in?
Do you look to the government for an entitlement, or to GOD for empowerment. BDW
Code should specify 5/8" hd galvanized through bolts 32" OC they are loaded in shear so the holes should be located adjacent to the webs of the blocks but don't need to be tightened to the point of crushing the block. If you are worried just add a treated 2x10 to the inside of the wall to sandwich the block with a very big washer. When in doubt you local engineer will provide good advice cheap.
That sounds good; especially the 2 x 10 backer; thanks for the help, much appreciated!
