Are you on the tracks with the door casters?
How about differences in the individual moving doors. Could you have reversed the stationary doors?
I’ve put in 4 of the vinyl exterior / wood interior 2 panel doors with success and 50 mph wind proof testing. It could be mis packaged parts or mis assembly.
I’d call Anderson directly. Bypass the guys in the orange aprons. It probably is a 30 second conversation with the right guy that will fix this problem.
Best of luck.

Wiley-- Ive installed a lot of Anderson products over the years, and I think they're customer service is one of the best out there. About the sliver of light between the tho operating panels- there are adjusting screws on the inside face of the door panels; maybe one or the other door needs to be tweaked up or down a little. Another possibility is that one of the doors might have a bow on the edge where the two doors meet. Try holding a straight-edge [or the factory edge of a decent plywood] on the edge to see if both are straight. Other than that, I agree with Booch- contact Anderson directly. They should be able to help you. Good luck.
I put in a set like this a couple of years ago, and yes the directions were terrible. The astragal had its own set of instructions if I remember correctly, and I can remember how much (not) fun the whole thing was.
But I've been able to set regular Andersen sliders since then like nobody's business!
Good luck,
MD
Wiley,
I've been putting in Andersen windows almost strictly, because my local lumber yard carries the line and gives me a good deal on them. Also, we had a mystery crack like yours show up in a window after installation and my yard got it replaced with no questions asked. That is money in the bank, and keeping my yard going, and service that has paid off in countless ways.
Home Depot, well they don't even have square drive deck screws! They aren't going to do anything extra to help you get a new panel. Good luck, hopefully Andersen will just honor it.
With regard to the stationary latch protruding, are you talking about the curved locking part, or perhaps you've got it on upside down (backwards?) Is this the astragal? Sorry about not quite understanding, I got up late because I watched 4 of the Band of Brothers episodes. Couldn't sleep after that, need some coffee now!
come on whats the source of a word like astergal???

Hey Wiley....
A lot of Andersen's service is performed by sub-contractors who work in exclusive areas. If you call Andersen, they'll give you the person's name and I'm sure they would be able to straighten it out.

Band of Brothers is an HBO series about the 101st Airborne Division in WWII. I've never been in combat but I can tell it's more real than any movie or other show I've ever seen. Practically gives you a heart attack, and I watched it on a little screen. I can only imagine how intense it would be on a home theater system.
I'm starting to think that your problem is that maybe they duplicated a part and omitted one of what it should be, or something like that.
I don't really think I've got much pull with the window company. My lumber yard does though, and they try really hard to keep us local contractors happy, because they are dead without us. They don't want to rely on DIYer's and competing with the big boxes. Those that did are already gone.

Wiley-
That's a nice view. I can see why you'd like the combination doors you picked. I don't recognize the city.
