In terms of the price advertised your right. Once you add in highly variable S&H, the chance the item will never arrive and your credit card will be drained Amazon doesn't look too bad.
And don't get me started on the silly idea you can tell a thing about the seller by reviews and reports from buyers. Those are quite easy to fake and have little bearing on the actual reliability of the seller.
Went that way. Got burned. Never again. At least not until they figure out some way ensuring compliance on both sides. Until then I only order from large, established and reputable companies. The www was supposed to be a boon to small companies. Not so. Far too easy to fake a web site and leave accountability far behind.
I just about furnished my whole house offa Ebay...bought a $50000 bike, lawn tractor, snow blowers, 2 power saws,, laser level off it blah blah blah...Never was burned...not even once.
Be going once, going twice, sold to ..

When we meet, we say, Namaste'..it means..I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides, I honor the place in you of love, of light, of truth, of peace. I honor the place within you where if you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, there is only one of us.
I've bought and sold many many items on Ebay, including a lot of tools and photo equip.I've had great luck in just about all of my dealings as both a buyer and a seller. In a few instances, I've screwed up as a bidder, and have been taken care of by the seller after the fact.In most cases, if you go by your gut in terms of how the item is described, the quality of the pictures, the way the description is written, and any questions you may have answered by the seller - you can weed out a lot of problems from the get go.It's like life outside the web - if it's too good to be true - it might be. And if something strikes you as odd or wrong about a prospective buyer or seller - then stay away.As much as I like to think that Ebay's a good place to buy things, I realize that it's an even better place to sell stuff.Stay away from folks that have a bunch of negatives and those that inflate shipping costs, or refer to wildly inflated "retail" prices and you can work within Ebay fine.I have a feedback of 189 - probably had over 200 transactions - perhaps split evenly between buying and selling (Ok, I've probably bought more than I've sold - I have a tool problem...); I have 1 negative from some idiot in the UK who bid on my US only auction and then after I agreed to sell to him - never paid me.Can you get good deals - most definitely - you just need to know what a good deal is.I picked up a New Paslode 16 Gauge nail gun at HD the other day for $80 on clearance - it's on Ebay right now for no reserve - someone will get a good deal on that gun. Hopefully, for my sake, it'll sell for at least $120.Regards,Julian
