Moving along with my project of running 1 1/2″ pvc pipe from house to garage, thanks to much advice gained here. At the house, I need to have the pipe turn towards the sky and enter the house about a two feet off the ground, which will put it near the basement ceiling. I got some threaded pvc couplers and would like to use something more discreet than a large outdoor box. So I saw at the store a “service ell” that threads into my coupler. Can I use this and then reduce it some how as it penetrates the house to feed into a standard j-box? Of course, this isn’t a service feed, just a 120v line to the garage, I don’t know if that makes any difference.

A "service ell" sounds like a plumbing fitting. Good for water but not for wires. Look in the electrical aisle for a conduit body, specifically a "LB". This has a cover which you open and can pull your wires thru.

I wonder if you saw a Pull Elbow.

That will work, but it is tight.
Unless you have real tight space a conduit body would be easier to use.

the conduit access fitting is what I saw. They called it a service ell. I saw pull elbows also, but the conduit body seemed like it had more room to work. Thanks
