Does 4th generation count?
My great-great grandfather was a carpenter. I have some of his tools.
My great grandfather was an accountant who commuted to, and worked in NYC pretty much his whole career. We're still not sure why he turned out like he did LOL
My grandfather and dad were carpenters who worked together for years, and from whom I learned the trade.
Pa,Dad, then me,3 generations of sawdust makers.
Yes, and I wish I could have learned more from my grand pop. I still have some of his old hand tools. He passed on while I was in my early 20's.
I think maybe Jeff Buck is 3rd gen. Second gen for sure.
Not exactly,
my great grandfather was a contractor and owned a lumberyard in PA.- he trained all of his 5 sons as carpenters
at some point in the early 20 th century--the lumberyard folded and Great grandpa and the 5 sons moved to Akron, Ohio---which was a boom town and the fastest growing city in america at the time
all 5 of the sons worked here as carpenters--but went their different ways. one of the 5-my grandpa was a contractor into the 1950's. my dad worked with him as a kid and a young man--but having lived through the depression--and watching grandpa scramble--he wanted something more "regular"
so after doing his time in wwII--he took the GI bill--and went to college( Cleveland Art Institute)-after that uncle sam beckoned again--and it was off to Korea. after korea he worked a a commercial artist for a local fortune 500 company by day--and as a landscape painter nights, weekends and vacations.
I am the throw-back---and my sons often work with me now in the summers during college
Case could be made that I am 4th generation---but not really.
If I wanted to- i could easily advertise my little endeavor as the 5th generation of Hazletts' serving the Akron community---but i won't-- i don't think that would be exactly dis-honest--but it would certainley be misleading enough that i wouldn't feel right about it.
Best wishes,
stephen
