I’m looking for a project to passify my stagnant time. i have built canoes, and I looking for a larger project. Like a family style boat. the woodworking part doesn’t scare me, it is the mechanical stuff like steering and motors.
Anyone have any thing, any place, any sources for building my own?
I’m more looking for something like a “Duffy” but with an outbaord motor type setup, no batteries. Too much cost.

Two of my favorite boatbuilding sites are http://www.woodenboat.com They have a forum where you can get a lot of advice. Another good site is http://www.duckworksmagazine.com That's a general homebuilding website, with lots of projects and plans featured.
I am building a Goat Island Skiff (16 ft sailboat) which you may run across in your web searches.
I've built smaller stuff myself, and I have also taken classes at Wooden Boat School.
You probably already know this, but I should mention that Wooden Boat Magazine has lots of ads for plans like you describe, and there is also a Wooden Boat Forum, where no doubt you will get a lot of suggestions.

I went to school for boatbuilding and today i gave my notice to my employer that i was leaving the industry to pursue an engineering degree. I would highly recommend a short class on building. Chesapeake light craft also has some great intro stuff. CLC.com i believe is their website. My favorite book on traditional construction is How to Build a Wooden boat, by Bud Macintosh. He however is very old school. The Landing School, landingschool.org is where i went for cruising boat construction. Wooden Boat school also does some classes at various locations in the summer. If you have done canoes i believe you could pull off a duffy style. We have one in our drystorage and i have looked over the thing a lot. You can certainly find some plans and planning material at woodenboat.com in their online store. Cold molding and some stitch and glue is going to be the most affordable method of construction on that. I am not really a fan of Glen L, but there may be some good reference stuff there. Best of luck, I look forward to seeing the progress of your build.

Look at the designs and finished boats that Devlin Boatworks creates in Olympia Washington. Pygmy is a stitch and glue company similar to cheasapeake Light craft and at least their equal. Also check out Dixdesign.com for small plywood sail and motor boats.
I got plans from woodnboat and made a 16' Sharpie Skiff. Lapstrake Okumi Plywood, and mahogany transom, gunnels and seats. It was a 42" beam, and 75lbs for easy portage.
Upto 10HP outboard, sail, or row..a hamm -dandy boat.
Got all except the wood, from Jamestown Dist.
I'd do it again,if I had the space and time continuim on my side.
