I have a Makita 1013 in my shop, and I like it a lot.
For job site work, I carry an old Hitachi 8 1/2″ SCMS — but it’s getting long in the tooth, and I am about to replace it.
At first, I thought I would just buy a second Makita; I like the saw, and the current discounts make it an attractive choice. I know many of you like the Bosch saws, but the Makita works well for my purposes. Also, I have seen, but not used the new sliders from Hitachi.
However, Metabo has recently brought both a 10″ and a 12″ to their product line:
Metabo10″ SCMS:

Metabo 12″:

Has anybody seen/used/bought one or the other of these saws? The other Metabo stuff I’ve used has been first rate, and I would like to know if they have managed to bring this same level of quality to their new mitre saws.

Saw one at JLC Live a couple months ago. Didn't get a chance to play with it too much, but it seemed like a nice machine, as most Metabo's are. They also came out with a jobsite table saw. Seen it yet?http://www.tools-plus.com/metts250.html
No, I haven't seen the Metabo TS either. My Bosch is still purring along nicely, so I am not in the market just now. I am however, still hoping someone who has used the new Metablo SCMS will find this thread and offer up a comment.********************************************************

I think it would be a marketing coup for Metabo if they were to provide a set of these new tools to some carpenters that frequent this forum so I...uhh.. they could use them and give some positive feedback here...
