Just wondering, was anybody out there stationed in Baumholder Germany between 1984-86 with the US Army? I often wonder what happened to all my comrades.

Not to put too fine a line on it P; but, a "former Army Vet", by definition, would be dead. May I suggest you look for current army vets ?

Good point. Error in wording noted.
Why not try posting this in the woodshed tavern? Hua...
Thanks for the tip. I am new to the site and I am still figuring out how to use it properly.
I was in the Army in Germany during 1982 and 1983, so I guess I left before you got there.
I was in the 18th engineers, based in Kahrlsruhe. But I spent most of my time in Grafenwohr working on the tank ranges. Got to live in those lovely WWII buildings with no running water and only one plug-in for every room of 12 guys.
Loved Germany. Hated the Army.

Boss,
Spent '86 to '90 in Reutlingen, Germany. Engineer with Robert Bosch, GmbH. Loved living there. Meet my former wife while over there, as she worked in the 97th General Hospital (Frankfurt), later for CCC Colleges around Stuttgart. Had fun teaching a few basic electronics courses on base (good way for me to sneak into the book store, movies, and the Class VI). Best part... my son was born in Tuebingen in 1990.
Must admit Janice (my ex) was clever about her gray walls in the barracks. She hated the gray, but learned you could put in a req for paint, if you painted the walls yourself. Two choices: gray or white. Sure enough put up 5 gallons of white (those concrete walls soaked in the paint). Little while later her room was PINK! Sgt appeared, asked her to explain herself... She explained it was white over gray, but somehow the gray bleed through... leaving a pink tone. So on up the chain of command... finally all agreed it was a paint reaction, and let her leave the pink walls. She did laugh, no artist among the bunch who would have thought of what happens with you dump a pint of Red paint (bought on the economy) into a bucket of white! Ya, she was always bucking the system...
