My 14.4 Mak 6367d drill took a dive, and the handle just where that “t’ain’t” of yer hand lives..t’ain’t thumb, t’ain’t index finger, is busted like a crack that opens on BITES you when the drill is maxed out then relieved..that hurts.
It is a yr or so old, and I got it at HD..so I hear DON’T go there.
Maybe just buy a new case half?
WWYD?
In all honesty, it did drop a good 40′..but landed wrong…on grass. I don’t useually fill out the warranty cards on less than a 500.00 purchase, even if it is covered.

Body shop could weld it.
I'd just get another one and keep the batteries and charger.

Body shop hell, I'll use my roofing torch head, I've welded plastic a lot. This stuff is kinda fibered tho'.
Yeah, yer right..what worse can I do to it?
The case sucks, the drill "unchuckable" at times..not a good investment...makes my PC's look good, and that's BAD.LOL
Next time I got the solder iron and drill out at the same time, I'll try it.
It is the left side of the body, mebbe someone else has one with a broke right side? We could have one semi good one..hmmm. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

I used some rubber tape (for patching hoses) to wrap some of my nail gun handles."Logic, like whiskey, loses it's beneficial effect when taken in too large quantities." Lord Dunsany
FWIW A coupla years ago, I loaned my old 9v makita to a workmate and, you guessed it, dropped it off a ladder and broke the case. I had it repaired, and if memory serves it was about $30-40. Probably half labor, so you could save that if you DIY.

Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.
Same thing happened to one of my Panasonics. Local service center replaced the whole plastic housing for about 40 bucks. Looks like a new drill.
I'm guessing the Makita people can do the same.

Sphere,
This may or may not apply. I have a Makita "torch" that I have fixed using fibreglass tape "bedded" with "Bondo". It has held.

your gonna laugh at this one.....
A few years back, I bought a Mak corded drill. I was using it in the garage drilling the hole in f/f with my kreg jig. well It got late so I stopped for the evening , I left part of the cord on the floor of the shop/garage.
Bugsey the wonder rabbit was in there and got locked in the garage for the evening... came in the next day and he (bugsey) decided he liked Mak cords for a mid night snack. aient through the insulation till the drill wouldnt work.
Took it to the mak repair center, not a authorized service center but a actual Mak service center and they replaced it free and immediately.. I thought that was great and have loved Mak since.
Bugsey however is personna non grata in the shop.. I chase his furry little butt outta the shop now.... he's pretty good about not eating cords anymore too....

Do you mean 6337D?
Housing is $17.34 plus ship.
This is a good outfit for ordering tool parts, though they are very slow to get the parts to you.

Thanks.
( don't tell anybody, I just snagged a 18 volt B&D for 99.00 at Lowes, for the interum..not too shabby with the quick drive / chuck removal doo dad) Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

sphere,
I'd just find out where your nearest Mikita repair shop is and send it there.. Any of my Mikita stuff that takes a dive I stop by and often they will repair it on the spot and as long as it doesn't look too old thank me and apologize that it failed a 40' drop test ;-) (anotherwords it's free fix)! On the rare occasion when it's really obvious that it's abuse or something, they will charge me a modest price for the part but replace it for no labor charge..
On occasion when they didn't have a new part in stock they'd rob one off another piece of equipment.. their moto must be satisfy the customer first!
On it as we speak..I hope they will do a freebie...Thanks Frenchy. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Well. Idle hands are the devils playground and all that.
I just used a soldering iron and welded it shut then smoothed some surrounding plastic to fill in the divot. Hit it with a dremel to blend and it is gooder than new.
Actually, it was a 15watt shellac burn in tool I use for furniture repairs, witha broad flattend tip..I few "stiches" across the gash ( after warming up the actual fault) and stealing the surrounding material worked just fine...
I chucked up a 4" holesaw and tested it..stalled the drill and no fracture.
Thanks all..I dunno why I waited so long. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks
