Our church is renting space in a relatively new strip center, maybe 3 years old. The bathroom is supplied with hot water from a small, electric model in the ceiling space over the bathroom. The water coming from this heater got to stink so bad that we shut off the hot water heater months ago and have been doing without. We thought the smell was coming from the hot water sitting in the electric heater all week long. We only used it on Sunday mornings.
However, after months of having the hot water off, we still have such a horrible odor coming from the COLD water side that you can hardly stand to be in the bathroom when the water is running. The smell is a rotten egg or sulphuric smell.
What is causing this and how do we get rid of tit for good- in the cold water and in the hot water?
Thanks so much for your ideas- they’re appreciated.
