DW and I have been mulling over putting in a tennis court in the backyard (a bit east of Atlanta). Kids are 9, 6, and 3, and soon we’re gonna’ wish our house was where the neighborhood kids came to, ‘cuz we’d know where ours were! I guess the net should be removable for skating.
Thinking about full size, oriented N-S, with a basketball goal or two somewhere.
Can I just do concrete? I use a great flatwork guy, but it seems courts are that asphalty stuff that looks pricey.
Any experience out there?

There was a guy around here whose screen name was the Tennis Court Builder or something like that. If you press the search function, his name comes up after the infamous Steve Mohler. Maybe he is still around under a new name.
Your kids ages are very Zen like (3,6,9), cool!

Think AJ use to build them (hasn't been here in years)
might be an old thread on them.

we do alot of tennis courts, about forty per year. if you dont repave an asphalt tennis court every 18 monts it will come apart. asphalt need recompacting due to sun heat.
Do one in Hartru, and get the kids attuned to doing the maintenance (watering, raking, dragging, retaping, etc.)
When ours were the age yours are now, we had backyard neighbors whose kids were grown and gone, with a beauty of a court in their backyard which adjoined ours. They let us use it like it was our own, provided we do the upkeep. And we sure did both.
Our kids, now grown and gone, still have terrific topspin forehands. Real boomers.
Check out the "Sport Court" concept.
The place I had in California had one in the back yard. About 30 x 60 or so. BB hoop at one end, markings on the ceement for a bad mitton or volleyball layout.
Made for a nice setup area for the big remodel I did over the next 4 years.
AJ.. by the stream....
