the drive pin on my brad nailer won’t retract?
Shoots one brad and the pin won,t go back far enough to allow another brad to load.
Does’nt matter what lenght of brad.
Have a Porter Cable BN200 18ga.
5 yrs old, don’t use alot but kept oiled.
Any knowledge would be helpful before I go opening it up to clean or replace O rings.
never been inside one of these tools yet.
Thanks

It's pretty simple inside, just watch the order in which things come apart. At least for a Senco finish nailer, and probably yours as well, lack of rebound on the driving pin is caused by lower cylinder leakage (the lower parts kit simply includes O-rings, a rubber bumper and a few misc. parts), loose bolts or things simply need a cleaning.
Since you don't use the gun a lot my guess is that things are a bit dirty inside from dirt and dust settling in the quick connect and, maybe, the crud has damaged an O-ring. Hopefully a simple cleaning is all it needs. If you wipe everything off with a cloth and re-lube with your normal oil I'll bet the odds are in your favor that it will work fine. Let us know what it turns out to be.

I have had the pin come off the piston before
now you bring that up, i've heard that they break off more frequently with the thinner the gauge of wire.... good point. .." Feed the good wolf....."
scotty- are you oiling this up? how old is this gun? are you using name brand nails? check the spring that advances the nail into place and the track no debris etc. . the bottom line is your gonna have to break it down and clean it i think . has it been laying around without using it? have you drained your compressor ? , what the p.s. i you running it at??
..
Is there enough pressure getting to the gun?
Blockage in the hose?
Jammed regulator?
Just a shot in the dark, but using the wrong type of pneumatic tool oil can degrade the o-rings in most nailers causing leaks and pressure loss.
there is a small tear in the o ring on the return valve. air is bypassing and won't suck it back up. Have also seen is as been realy dirty inside and the sluge created will do the same thing ,just take apart and clean it. worth a try!!

I had that very same gun with the same problem.
I gave it away to a guy at work and he took it in to get fixed, they gave him a new one!
I dont know what was wrong with it but pizzed me off, hell the damn thing was 5 or 6 years old and they give him a new one.
