Anybody use Elastilon for wood floor installation?
New townhouse. Concrete slab entrance level. Customer wants me to remove carpet from small room and tile from foyer. We had discussed a sub-floor with insulation to resist the chill in the room to be a playroom. When she bought flooring at Lumber Liquidaters they pushed Elastilon. From what I found on their page; it’s a self adhesive mat with a Thermal conductivity of 0.0034 W/mK. Which i think? corresponds to an R-value of approx. 2. Since the mat goes on top of a vapor barrier it will essentially be a free floating floor with the flanks held together by the mat. OK. Done those that worked. My questions; are there any comments on this product, am I right with my R-value conversion and are there any comments on this technique in general?
