I found this site a while back( http://www.ideas-for-deck-designs.com/titan-post-anchor.html) and decided to try them out on my first deck.
I framed my 16×18 deck with PT2x8x16″ and decked it with Trex and used extra PT cutoffs where my posts were to mount.
The job went fairly smooth using ebties (a pita but looks good).
The titan anchors require a exact center drill of the 4×4. Holding or clamping a 4×4 44″ long and using my big drill to hit exact center is not real easy to do, using a pilot bit helps. If I had a lot of them to do I thing I would build a fixture to center and hold the drill in alignment. I only had 10 posts to do.
I found that driving in the anchor plate with the 3# sledge hammer went a lot better after I poured melted beeswax in the center hole.
Seems pretty stout when I got done. Made placement of the posts a little easier and possibly saved time as I did not have to make any cuts around to posts and does keep the 4×4 up off the deck by about 1/2″ which the Trex sleeve and trim covered well.
