Hey, Justin. I'm in Albany, Georgia, about 180 miles due South of Hot-Lanta. I guess the "don't miss" list in Atlanta would include the CNN tour and Centennial Park, from the 1996 Olympics, which is right next door to CNN. The Margaret Mitchell home has been restored and is now a museum, and we have the King Center (MLK) and The Carter Center (Jimmy Carter's foundation) but I haven't visited either of those.
Stone Mountain is pretty cool, with a huge relief carving in the granite,a tribute to the old South, Andrew Jackson, Robert E Lee, and Jefferson Davis all on horseback. It might be worth the 15 minute trip from downtown.
Have fun. The weather is fantastic this week.

Thanks for the reply. Ive noticed a large number of Hispanic workers in the area. Is work dominated by the immigrants or am I just in there areas of expertise? Is this a tough market for you to work in? If you have time please tell me a little about your local work experiences. Its hard to leave my hometown and not learn about my neighbors way of doing business.
Thanks,
Justin Tischer

work is donimated by the hispanic in the south. Best worker there ever was. Alot of constuction companys will only hire mexicans now. They want to work. Like president Fox said last week.
I recently (within the past month) have had 5 Honduras-ans working with me, one as a general all-around guy and 4 as sheetrockers. The first guy really wantrs to work and learn English, and is great. One of the rockers tries, but the lead guy is a jerk who has no interest ijn learning English and the crew is a total waste of time. Really bad quality work, and they were asking a premnium price.
I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
In the Atlanta, Marietta, Gainesville, Athens area, the Hispanic work force is mostly into landscaping, lawn care, irrigation, and construction. Here is the rural part of the state, it's stoop labor, topping tobacco, picking tomatoes, cotton mills, etc. We've had a big influx, and INS stays busy with the farm laborers. Most of them used to spend December back at home, but now they're afraid to go home because they're afraid they won't be able to get back.
I'm not actually in the trades, I run a large insurance agency, but I have rental property and do my own maintenance and also a small pecan farm. There's good work to be had here, though, and I think the cost of living in Georgia is better than a lot of places. The climate is pretty good, as you've seen.
I'm halfway between Atlanta and Panama City Beach. Life is good !
