wide spot in the road next to the columbia river, Mainly agriculture. Orchards, cherry, apple etc. Hot in the summer and cold in the winter. There are cold storage warehouses etc.. Lot's of hunting and fishing close by. About 2 hrs. over the cascade mountains from seattle.
I used to live in the area. If you are in construction nearby lake chelan was experiencing a boom in multi million dollar vacation homes as of a few years ago. That might be bust now. Otherwise you work in wenatchee. Land prices probably depend on access to water and the Columbia river. Apple industry is in tough straights. Beautiful area though entiat itself doesn't have a lot to recommend it
Best thing to me about Entiat? Dry side of the mountains!
Family has some property in Tonasket (60-70miles north?) been trying to sell for a few years...hard to find a realator.
Lot of land companies selling acerage parcels for "Your Dream Retirement" was up there a couple years ago talking to some locals... poor resale value outside of town or without waterfront.
Don't know if this applies to you, but I would see what else is on the market before investing.
Goodluck.
Thanks to all who replied.
I had been told that probably the only reason to buy and build on it was for a second home for tourist season folks. Property is not waterfront, it is located about 3 miles up the Entiat River valley, then south up a canyon about a mile. Looks like I will take a pass on this one. Interestingly enough I was actually in line to head that way for another winery job last year that has now collapsed because of the economy.
