I’ve read several things extolling the virtues of baffled ridge vent. My lumberyard carries a product called Cobra Ridge Vent. It has the look almost like a roll out plastic scrub pad.
Has anyone had any experience with it? Good or bad?
Thanks!
It doesn’t matter how fast you get there, it just matters that you go in the right direction.

I've installed a coupla miles of cobra vent and similar products. I can't really tell you specifically how it performs. What I can tell you is this. No call back regarding proper ventilation as long as soffits are properly vented as well. No call backs relating to water getting past it. That's enough for me to continue using it. It's becoming pretty much the standard out here in MA from what I can tell. It comes with 2 1/2" "smart nails" to install it with. It's just a big ole roofin nail with a hard plastic sleeve on it which prevents overdriving of the nails. This way your cap won't tear and blow off. Can't remember the reasoning, but your supposed to stop it 2' or so from the end of your ridge line, but butt it to any cheek walls.
I luuuuuv this stuff! I've used it on about 6 roofs on houses that I am remodeling. No problems and I like the profile it gives you. It seems to signal NEW and TRENDY to my potential buyers.
You can use the nails that come with it if you like or use your own, just don't flatten it down...easy touch does the job.
Another point I insist upon is it runs the FULL length. (even though the opening under it does not) This gives a symmetrical, even look. I've seen it done where they stop before the end and to my eye it looks like a mistake!
