I am looking into remodeling a kitchen to include new Hardwood floors. Cust wants to save $$ by using Red Oak 2 1/4 T&G prefinished Husky floors. Says, “like the 50 yr warranty”. Anyone used them before and have an opion???
TIA,
DZM

Fifty Year Finish Warranty?
Boy, they seem to be climbing higher and higher. Sorry Dan, no experience here. Do they have anything to do with Beaverhome.com?
*Dan --- A fifty year guarantee on the finish is marketing hoo-ha. It sounds nice, but in practice doesn't mean anything. The usual wear on a wood floor is dings or scratches that go through the finish into the wood. The guarantee does not cover that sort of stuff. I just installed 800 square feet of Husky prefinished oak in a remodel. The installed cost was roughly the same as unfinished. The big benefit was eliminating the mess and smells of finishing -- the owners are living in the house during the remodel. I'd do it again, and use Husky. Jamie
*Ken, Yeah fifty yrs. Have to look into the warranty - probably doesn't transfer when the house is sold and who ever lives in a house for fifty yrs nowadays - definately a marketing ploy but it works!Don't believe they do.Dan
*Jamie, Thanks for the reply. I agree about the marketing but as I replied earlier - it works in certain cases... When was the last time you had anyone read the fine print of a warranty? Usually we (americans in general) read the large print only and then get upset when we find out later we aren't covered for something that went wrong. I for one am going to look into husky's warranty for professional knowledge and curiosity's sake. Thanks for the comments.Dan
