I am going to be installing a custom tiled shower and have been hearing some good things about the Schluter Kerdi shower system. I heard of it through our local tile store. I just watched the video and it looks so simple I can hardly believe it actually is waterproof. If anyone has actually used it could you please tell me anything you can about it? Much obliged!

Duey,
That subject has been addressed here on Breaktime a number of different times in the past.
If you scroll down in the lower left corner of your screen there is a search function that will take you to previous threads dealing with whatever you type in the search bar.
If you type in ' Schluter Kerdi' or other keywords of the subject matter you'll get a supply of data from those old threads.

Almost all the tilesetters are using it, in my little neck of the woods.
From starter homes (hardly any being built) to $5 million trophy camps for the rich and famous, it is Kerdi all the way.
The Kerdi drain is the greatest, IMHO.
I have not used it, nor seen it, but have looked over the videos and all the info out there.
Seems like the logical way to do it.
You don't waterproof the underside of your roof do you?? Then why put the waterproofing under or behind the substrate.
You might get more info here........

It ain't Code in my neck of the woods. It is vastly more expensive than traditional mortar/membrane showers. And you have to membrane the whole shower, not just the floor.Regards,
