I want to make a couple of concrete columns for a driveway gate. I want to put local slate on the outside of the concrete. When the slate is dry it looks dusty and dirty. What do I use to give the rock the permanent “wet” look? I’m also concrened about UV sensitivity, “refinishing”, and weather-proofness.
Any help would be great thanx!

Sealers can behave differently on different types of stone. No big suprise there.
Take a few samples pieces of your stone. Use a cleaner, then a sealer on a portion of the stone. Keep trying until you get the finish you desire.
Some sealers have a dull, matte finish, other have the glossy, wet look that you seem to be looking for.
A penetating sealer is easier to renew than one that forms a film finish. Most penetrating sealers can simply be wiped on again as required, whereas some film-finishes need to have the original coating stripped off before applying again.
