have a 1970’s daylight ranch style home, and I am planning on residing it this coming summer, after I replace all the the old windows. The exterior walls are 2×4, with 3/4 T-1-11 plywood siding – no sheating underneith.
I am considering putting 3/4 or 1″ rigid foam on top of the siding, then a 1/2 drainage plane (PT plywood), then hardiplank siding. We live in Portland, Oregon – so I am concered about making sure we handle the moisture.
Has anyone put rigid foam on, then the drainage plane over it? Was it worth it? I know this is somewhat of a subjective question. If so, where there issues with compression of the foam?
Thanks for you input.

Just a thought but...........why not remove the 3/4 ply, fill the cavities with spray in foam and then install the 1/2 pt ply complete with the hardi board finish layer?
