Are (Hallway) Doorknobs and Hinges ok for outside? Water Proof?

I have a screened in porch with double doors that my wife would like a “hallway” style door knob (not locked) installed…..
really, both “sides” are exposed to the elements, as are the hinges. Ive contacted Kwikset and Baldwin for info, but can’t get any feedback from them.
I’d like to have an “antiqued black” operable doorknob or lever on one door, and “dummy” knob on the other side. Can I use interior hallway knobs? Are Stainless finishes a better bet? Are “exterior sets” only “exterior” on one side?
Any of this make any sense? 🙂
Thanks for your help in advance,
John

The main difference between "interior" and "exterior" door fittings is their corrosion resistance. An "interior" knob might be OK in a sheltered area where it seldom gets wet, but will not give good performance if exposed to the weather.
There is also the point that an exterior knob set will be slightly better in terms of keeping wind and water from blowing through.
There are knob sets with "exterior" knobs on both sides, but I'm sure the selection is limited.
thanks Dan,
do you happen to know where i might find that "limited selection"?
thank you
Water proof door knobs
Unlike the interiror knobs the exterior knobs needs to be strudy and resilient which can withstand the harsh climate in our part of the world. I have found many brands which claim corrosion free knobs. I think the 7 inch brass knobs pearl shine waterproof is one of its kind which is quite attractive.
Simply spray the knobs with clear polyurethane every decade or so.
yes,.....seems to be the common solution
thank you
Keys
In my experience there is no difference in finish between exterior and interior lock sets. The exterior ones have keys, the interior ones don't. Other than that they are all manufactured alike.
