I need to reonovate my basement among the things I need to do is update an area that is a rec room area. The problem is that there are no windows. Al the windows are in the storage area of the basement. For cost reasons I am not putting this area where the windows are. However I would like to ake advantage of outside lighting, as well as add some ventilation in this area if the basement windows are open.
I would like to hear what people may have for suggestions on how to give quality lighting for this area.
Thanks,

Well. I mean adding one, that is. I mean, how about adding a window well? Well?
For natural looking lighting it depends on the mood you want. For a cozy TV room some floor lamps would work. For more lighting, fluorescents. But definitely not cool white shop lamps with magnetic ballasts. I'd suggest electronic ballasts, T8 lamps, in one of the higher color rendering index models. From General Electric I like SP35 and SPX35. They give a very natural looking color.
If you are combining fluorescents with incandescents, then I'd warm up to SP30 or SPX30, which is a closer match in color to the warmer tones of incandescents.
ski,
If you've got the money, why not put in a big window with a big well.
Terrace and landscape the well, and you'll be bringing the outside into your basement.
The larger and deeper well will also give you emergency egress.
