ARXX Workshop: Any Good??
I just got an Email about an ARXX workshop being held in Los Angeles (Downey) this Friday. They want $75 for a full day.
I’m up for it…if I’m going to learn something useful about ICFs, not just this product.
So, who’s been to one of these ARXX workshops?
Did you learn anything that you really needed to know? Or was it just another way for them to market their product while letting others pay their salaries and expenses for the day?
Thanks, Peter

It's probably just a way to collect their sales expenses.
It might be a good networking opportunity though.
If you want a free seminar, tell the rep you can't make it that day, but you are available the day before or the day after. He'll book you for a couple of hours to get you to sell his products.

You are in NY, and are considering traveling to CA to attend an ICF how-to session?
They do these right at your local lumberyard, don't they?

I've been living in LA for some time. Hope to be leaving soon. I haven't heard of any tutorials at local yards, here or in NYS.
Thanks for the bump.
Talk to your supplier. Around here, the yards will foot the fee for a contractor with account to attend.

Sounds good but I'm trying to find out if the "workshop" is worthwhile from a person who's been to one of them.
It ain't just the $75, it's potentially wasting a day and sitting in L.A. freeway traffic for several hours, coming and going.
Now that I've put that in writing it's become real enough for me to lose almost all my interest.
Thanks Paul. You're a true oracle, after all. ;-)
It is probably invaluable to a newbie DIY, but reading the manual and threads here on ICFs will do as well for somebody like us with basic skills and experiences.
I have not done it, but a couple guys I know have and they did get something out of it, but felt like the free food buffet was what made it worth going...;)

That's what I've been thinking but you know it's always nice to get your hands on any new product or tool and see how well it works.
I really don't have an application for an ICF at this time either. I was enthusiastic about them for a while but when I finally figured out how costly they are my interest faded.
I've been told that AARX is one of the few that can accomodate a curved wall - if that matters...
I think I'll just hire Frenchy's SIL, if I ever want to do an ICF house. She picked it all up, on her own, in no time...according to himself. ;-)
She did it for free too, wasn't it?
Yer right. Best deal going.
But at that rate, Frenchy doesn't get much of a commission, unless he's got some hidden fees like them bankers and wealthy people.
If she is the interior decorator, 'scuse me - designer, she can only work from the inside of the curve wall, right?;)

Frenchy will be along soon to let us know!
Where's he been lately? I should admit I refuse to read the pollyticical threads at all. Maybe he's been there?
