does anyone out there know off hand what the ‘better’ looking version of ‘weathered wood’ comes in ? I know that the weathered wood is the GAF but I think Cert, IKO and others do versions of it. Some have more definetion and a deeper tone of the color.
Also is there one brand in particualr that we know will not warrenty over SIPs or ‘unvented’?
thanks

I say that was pretty subjective. They pretty much all make a "weathered wood".

That's been changing pretty rapidly, lately. Best bet is to check the website of the one you're interested in before purchasing. I mostly use Certainteed and they're OK with nonvented. I think the rest have followed suit, but some checking is in order.

If you want to see Elk's WeatherdWood (now owned by GAF IIRC) installed, I can send pics of my house.
Hey I realize that was probably going to get opinions. .. but funny how I didn't get any. I have since heard that the longer the life shingle the thicker they are (duh) but also so they have more depth and look better. Kinda answering my own question here.Thanks.arthur

Elk has a high definition version of their architectural shingles. I have not used them but they have the regular and the high definition. Elk also is one of the companies that warranty on unvented roofs with foam or sips. I don't know how the gaf purchase affects that, check with the company.
