Attaching a wall-mounted over-the-toilet cabinet
Hi,
I just moved into an apartment that I am renting and the bathroom is very small with very little space for any storage. (Only a small space under the sink). Because I do not own the apartment, I would like to put a floating cabinet above the toilet. I have looked into the standing ones that go above the toilet but the way they made this bathroom, the bar the put in for hand towels is in-line vertically with where the one side of the toilet is, so nothing would be able to fit between both. I was wondering if anyone had an idea or if there was any way to mount a floating cabinet over the toilet without drilling into the walls. I know that I could always spackle after, but I do not have the grey paint that they used for the walls so this is also not an option. Is there any way to attach something to a wall that would be supportive enough for this kind of project or no? Approximate dimensions of cabinet are below. I know it’s a long shot but I also know nothing about this.
Material | P2 MDF |
Item Dimensions LxWxH | 24 x 8.5 x 24 inches |
Item Weight | 17 Pounds |

You might want to call the maintenance person or manager and say you would like such a cabinet, and are willing to pay for it and leave it when you eventually depart.
Let them figure out how to attach to the walls.
The last thing you want is to sort of hang it and have it fall down and break the toilet, if not hurt you while it does.
okay, i guess i will do that. I was just hoping there was an easier solution without involving them but i kind of had a feeling i would need to fully secure it into the wall. Thanks so much for your input!!!!!
You could also remove the towel bar to put the standing toilet shelf into place. Then you either put the towel bar back over the shelf leg or just leave it off and hang the towels on the new shelf.
Otherwise I second Mike's advice.
