Attaching Aluminum Enclosure to Roof, Screw through drip edge – yes or no?

I need to install just one square of aluminum extrusion for a screen to the edge of my roof. A guy at the roofing company said i probably don’t want to screw through the drip edge. Is this right? If so, how else can i install it while allowing proper water flow off the roof edge.
Some Details:
I just got my roof re-shingled and I need to replace the screen that covers a 9’x9′ atrium in the center of my house. They took down the aluminum frame, and i didn’t think to see how it was previously attached. I would screw it back on straight through the drip edge, but will that create potential leaks? Do i need to remove the drip edge, screw it to facia, and install some kind of flashing over it?

Down here in Florida we use a product called "Super Gutter" which is a square. structural gutter that attaches through the fascia using large screws. The C channel for the screen mounts on that.
Super gutter has a flat spline screen groove in it on the outboard edge.
