I’ve got a job coming up, where I have to build a small ( 4′ x 8′) deck with steps. I’m wondering about attaching the deck ledger to the house. The HO built the addition with SIPS, and I’ve had no experience with them.
I’m figuring on thru bolting the ledger thru the SIPS panel, flashing and sealing as I go.
Does that seem OK with everyone? Should I add a 2x on the inside for extra strength?
Thanks, everyone.

I'd run posts down to the footings and avoid the attachment as much as possible.

The SIP company should have a detail of how to attach it properly but it is typically done with timber screws from inside. That's how my deck and second floor ledgers are attached.
R-control has detail drawing for their panels available on line.

I'm with Blue. You may be able to get the manufacturer to give you a detail that you can actually use, but what would be the harm in just using 6x6 posts and making it freestanding?
Hopefully it's not 16' off of the ground or over 9' of uncompacted fill.
